Miniature collectables or dust gatherers? After my last major clean out where I went too far I decided to take some time to ‘think’ about what goes out next. These are just a few rediscovered treasures which have been in hiding. Occasionally when I tidy up and can’t decide what to do, or where to put certain things they usually end up in a bag or drawer or box. The unfortunate thing is they end up staying there for ages, sometimes years, before I find them again.

These miniatures are not items of any great value except that they are sentimental in some ways. The little pink & gold Limoges teapot was given to me by a very dear friend; the other items are mementos from overseas trips or gifts from friends while overseas. The milk jug cover is something I bought for myself several years ago but have never used it….. Well it’s out of the drawer now so it will be put to use …finally. I think the others need a little display case … I’ll have a think about it – any suggestions on how to display them would be appreciated

I’m still moving things about the house – it seems to be an ongoing & never ending chore but at least I get to rediscover some of those past treasures. I wonder what I’ll find next?

A few posts back I wrote about reproduction Murano art glass. Continuing on that theme here is another reproduction of a very popular item – the gramophone. As I wrote earlier, nothing compares with the original designs. I’d rather own an original design but it’s not always possible – either because of availability or price. If you are a collector of antiques you would most likely ‘cringe’ at the thought of buying a reproduction piece. But if you are not necesaarily a collector and looking for a decor piece with a difference then reproductions would suit you ….. and your wallet.

Timber base with wind up handle & brass horn – it’s in working order & will play your old 75s. The octagonal design is my favourite.

These reproduction gramophones are a gorgeous decor accessory – very impressive and a great conversation piece.

Ciao for now,

If you like ‘ornate’, ‘chic’ and ‘white’ then this gorgeous mirror could hang quite happily in your home. This is a reproduction of an actual Victorian design complete with holes in each corner. The holes seen in the corners of the frame are part of the Victorian design where frames were hung using rope pulled through these holes.

This mirror frame has been painted white and is perfect for the ‘shabby chic’ style decor or even the modern home.

I love the gorgeous detail that comes with this design. It’s a lavish centrepiece for your wall decor – perfect to hang over a dresser in the bedroom, over a mantlepiece, in a front entry/hallway, or even in the bathroom. It would certainly brighten any dark spot and will highlight any corner of your home. I’d even be tempted to use it to decorate an outdoor room or outdoor entertaining area.

Items like this can lift a home’s decor and make you feel good about having something beautiful in your surroundings.

~

After browsing a number of sites owned by talented jewellery artists I decided to bring out another of my recreated treasures. This cute little design is finished in soft pink, pale green & pale gold. I wanted to keep it soft because of the detail in its design.

My first thoughts go to chocolates – The pink compote would look so elegant serving a selection of handmade chocolates but after browsing through Annette Piper’s blog Under The Loupe and seeing some creative jewellery designs I’m now thinking this compote could look gorgeous with a beautiful green, pink & mauve pearl strands
draped over it; add to it a purple bracelet and a rose quartz charm bracelet ; top it off with a pale pink & frosted necklace . A mix of gorgeous beads, pearls & gemstones would sit pretty in the compote and add a sweet little feaure on a dresser or corner table.

I’d love to be able to photograph this compote with all those gorgeous pieces of jewellery. The compote has a satin finish and would set off the shine and luminous sheen of the jewellery beautifully.
