More Chocolate Moments

  • The 12-step chocoholics program:
NEVER BE MORE THAN 12 STEPS AWAY FROM CHOCOLATE!
  • Strength is the capacity to break a chocolate bar into four pieces with your bare hands – and then eat just one of the pieces.  Judith Viorst
  • Chocolate: Here today …. Gone today!
Nobody knows the truffles I’ve seen!
  • I  don’t understand why so many “so called” chocolate lovers complain about the calories in chocolate, when all true chocoholics know that it is a vegetable. It comes from the cocoa bean, beans are veggies, ’nuff said.

  • Put “eat chocolate” at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.

  • Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don’t need an appointment.
  • When the going gets tough, the tough eat chocolate.
  • Q:  Why is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous?
A:  Because no one wants to quit.
  • Chocolate is a Vegetable: chocolate is derived from cocoa beans. Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar beets. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable. To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.

Eat Chocolate, Then Laugh

Eat a Dove chocolate and be rewarded with an amusing quote….. although the chocolate is my reward and I don’t usually need an excuse to eat chocolate but it’s fun to get to the inside of the foil wrapper to discover these quotes -

* How do you treat someone addicted to chocolate therapy?

* Chocolate doesn’t make the world go around but it makes the trip worthwhile.

* If at first you don’t succeed then skydiving is not for you.

* Chocolate is the answer. Who cares what the question is.

* The only normal people are the ones you don’t know very well.

* You can’t soar with eagles when you are running with ducks.

* Mistakes are proof that you are trying.

* Knowledge is power but chocolate pulls the switch.

Enjoy your chocolates!

Things People Said

     ….. in the courtroom.

The following quotations are taken from official court records, showing how funny and embarrassing it is that recorders operate at all times in courts of law, so that even the slightest inadvertence is preserved for posterity.

  • Lawyer: “Now, Mrs. Johnson, how was your first marriage terminated?”
  • Witness: “By death.”
  • Lawyer: “And by whose death was it terminated?”
  • Lawyer: “What is your date of birth?”
  • Witness: “July 15th.”
  • Lawyer: “What year?”
  • Witness: “Every year.”
  • Lawyer: “This myasthenia gravis — does it affect your memory at all?”
  • Witness: “Yes.”
  • Lawyer: “And in what ways does it affect your memory?”
  • Witness: “I forget.”
  • Lawyer: “You forget. Can you give us an example of something that you’ve forgotten?”
    • Lawyer: “Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?”
    • Witness: “No.”
    • Lawyer: “Did you check for blood pressure?”
    • Witness: “No.”
    • Lawyer: “Did you check for breathing?”
    • Witness: “No.”
    • Lawyer: “So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?”
    • Witness: “No.”
    • Lawyer: “How can you be so sure, Doctor?”
    • Witness: “Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.”
    • Lawyer: “But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?”
    • Witness: “Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.”
  • Lawyer: “How far apart were the vehicles at the time of the collision?”
    • Lawyer: “What happened then?”
    • Witness: “He told me, he says, ‘I have to kill you because you can identify me.’”
    • Lawyer: “Did he kill you?”
    • Witness: “No.”
    • Lawyer: “You were there until the time you left, is that true?”
    • Lawyer: “So you were gone until you returned?”
    • Lawyer: “Were you alone or by yourself?”

    • Lawyer: “Mr. Slatery, you went on a rather elaborate honeymoon, didn’t you?”
    • Witness: “I went to Europe, sir.”
    • Lawyer: “And you took your new wife?”
    • Lawyer: “I show you Exhibit 3 and ask you if you recognize that picture.”
    • Witness: “That’s me.”
    • Lawyer: “Were you present when that picture was taken?”
    • Lawyer: “And what did he do then?”
    • Witness: “He came home, and next morning he was dead.”
    • Lawyer: “So when he woke up the next morning he was dead?”
    • Lawyer: “Could you see him from where you were standing?”
    • Witness: “I could see his head.”
    • Lawyer: “And where was his head?”
    • Witness: “Just above his shoulders.”

    What can I say?

    A Change In Routine?

Now wouldn’t something like this brighten up your day! Nothing like something out of the ordinary to zap a little energy into daily routines…..

More than 200 dancers were performing their version of “Do Re Mi”, in the Central Station of Antwerp. with just 2 rehearsals they created this amazing stunt! Those 4 fantastic minutes started the 23 of march 2009, 08:00 AM. It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of “The Sound of Music”.

I’d love to come across something unusual like this. Although we probably shouldn’t rely on others to create a momentary ’diversion’ to break any dreary, humdrum routine in our work/private life. We could easily create our own – it’s not hard and you don’t need to break into song in the middle of a busy station. But a few minutes of fun things or doing something out of the ordinary, out of character, every now & then is healthy …… just like a good laugh is seen as medicine for body and soul. You may seem a little ‘crazy’ for a few moments but you won’t end up in the ‘looney bin’ ………… See you at Flinders St Station ;)

    Need Some Encouragement?

    Think you’ve got it bad?

Working From Home – Protecting Family Time

vincent-fishing.JPG    There are many challenges when running a business from home. One of them is the balance of time between work & family. This article I discovered at The Repozitory offers a few suggestions on drawing the line between work & leisure.

Protecting Family Time by Melissa Khalinsky

For many home based businesses, the line between business time and family time can be blurred. It is easy for clients for demand attention at all hours. As parents, it is more important than ever to protect your family time, drawing a line between work and leisure.

Here a few ways you can protect your family time.

    1. Set office hours – even if your set hours are erratic, fitting around your children, set office hours when you will be working. Outside these hours, be un-contactable, by phone and email. Answer emails and phone messages during office hours.

    2. Schedule family time – you put all your business meetings in your diary, to ensure you keep your appointments. Do the same with your family time – and ensure you keep your appointments!

    3. Use voicemail – during family time, turn your mobile phone off and unplug your phone or screen your calls. If it is an important matter, your clients will leave a message or call back later. You may even want to change your voicemail message to let callers know when you will be back in the office.

    4. Have a separate work area – if possible, keep your work area separate from your living area. If a separate room is unavailable, set yourself up in a corner that is designated as your office. Set yourself up so that your work can be put away during family time, so you are not tempted to start working while you are with your family.

Remember, if you were working for someone else, and working nine to five, your clients wouldn’t expect you to be available after hours, on weekends or when you are on holiday. Your family time is precious – protect it.

Melissa Khalinsky is a work at home mother of 2 boys. She runs
Business Mums Network, a support and information network for parents.

    Dressed For The Occasion

Something rather fun, fluffy & pink caught my eye while browsing through the Pink Heels blog. I had to stop & have a giggle but found the item to be … well, quite attractive in a way. I never would have thought to dress up my computer in this way but it would certainly brighten up the room & put a smile on your face. And of course it has a matching mouse. I think I’d have to name it Fluffy Fifi

The post directly under the fluffy laptop, titled Business Etiquette led me to another web site with videos on modern manners. Some of these are quite funny and worth a look, so take some time out and have a peek here.
