Happy 2011!
Wishing You A Happy New Year!
The start of a new year has me reminiscing about the past year and looking forward to the new one. Lots has been achieved but what’s past is past & now I go forward with a new collection of life’s experiences & great expectations for work, rest, creativity and prosperity.
I hope your 2011 will be prosperous, exciting, fun, happy and accompanied with good health.
I’m looking forward to a great year of blogging too. If you’re reading this please take time to say Hi.
A Great Team.

It’s a great feeling knowing there’s a great team of dedicated workers who are using their talents & skills and giving their time to build up a successful show. The Handmade Show committee members are workers, parents, artists and crafters (mostly a combination of each), yet they give their precious time to help organise and build up a boutique style market … to make a dream become reality; to give an opportunity to the exhibit & sell extraordinary creative works; to offer benefits to the community as a not-for-profit organisation.
This is not an easy task but it is an exciting one especially when you can see progress. Karen from MooBee Tees (and a committee member) says –
I’m proud to say that our baby is no longer crawling, and is now walking :0)
I must also give a big Thank You to Karen, Bobbie, Samone, Jade, Kerri and Regina - we’ve still got lots to do but the job that’s been done so far is fabulous.
The Handmade Show
It’s here again! Time passes by so quickly it’s hard to believe the October show is only one day away. The Handmade Show committee have been busily organising & promoting the show and processing new applications. I’m looking forward to meeting new stallholders & browsing their creations.
There’s also a fabulous prize to win. Everyone who comes to THS will be given a free entry into the draw to win a $40 Gift Voucher. This is a great giveaway but to be in it to win you need to come to the show. More Info Here.
Don’t forget – this is an Indoor show so you can Browse through at a leisurely pace, chat with the crafters & artisans, enjoy a drink from the bar …. and enter the giveaway – it’s a free entry plus you receive an extra 2 entries with every purchase. Sounds good to me! You’re sure to have a fabulous time
Of course, EP Designs will be there so come along and say ‘Hi’ to us.
The Art of Transformation
Eric Grohe creates amazing mural art designed to transform the environment and to endure for generations. He works in cooperation with architects, designers and community representatives to create these masterpieces. Eric believes that …
his art should involve, challenge and inspire the viewer; not simply adorn, but integrate with its architectural surroundings.
I would love to see this kind of work on some of our drab old buildings in Melbourne’s CBD. Oh how it would lift them, brighten the city and the community. I would love to see this artwork replace most (or preferably all) the awful grafitti around here. There’s not much more I can say at the moment as I’m in awe of Eric’s magnificent work. But take a look for yourself at some of his work and see what you think -

Every project is a grand adventure,

Are You Creative, Crafty, Arty ….
… Do you design and hand craft quality products? Do you live in Melbourne and looking for a warm, friendly and exciting place to exhibit & sell your wares?
The Handmade Show could be just for you. This is where we showcase the talents of local artisans and crafters. Perhaps you would like to join us!
Our focus is on quality handmade products, and we love to exhibit a large range of crafts. We are on the lookout for unique, well made products that are locally made in Melbourne.
As you would know, most markets charge you a fee for holding a stall. The Handmade Show operates a little differently because we (the artists & crafters) run the market ourselves. We are a non-profit group that all share the responsibilities of running The Show, and therefore a donation from each of our stallholders is requested to go back into the general costs of running The Show. A portion of this also goes back into the RSL.
Interested in becoming a stallholder or would like to know more? Please visit The Handmade Show blog to register your interest, and you will be sent an application kit!
Daisy Bear
After visiting a market recently and seeing lots of gorgeous hand crafted teddy bears, I was prompted to write about my ‘recreated’ bears. Making or recreating Teddy bears is not my usual craft but a few years back I was inspired to dress up a few cute little bears. I’d given them each a name & a little story attached. Here is one of the bears I called Daisy.
DAISY BEAR – A HAPPY HEART.
Daisy Bear adores her garden. It is her favourite pastime. It’s her passion and she reaps many rewards from her labours. But Daisy is not a selfish bear. She loves to share the fruits of her labour; and many neighbours & friends often find Daisy on their doorstep with an armful of blooms, a pretty bouquet, a basket of fragrant roses, handfuls of spring flowers or a special arrangement of her favourite picks.
Daisy is a special little bear who’s found a home with a special little girl.

Fluffy Fancies
If I didn’t procrastinate so much then I’m sure these Fluffy Fancies would have been complete & ready for their ’photo shoot’….. or maybe I shouldn’t admit to this?
Welcome to Pink Saturday!
Seeing I won’t be taking part in Pink Saturday for a couple of weeks I’ve decided to show you what I’ve been working on anyway….. My Fluffy Fancy Pin Cushions
My collection of old & worn silverware includes these liqueur/sherry stem goblets which have been painted & given some gold antiquing.
I’ve added a big handful of craft stuffing contained within a covering of crushed panne velvet, to form a round ball for the a pin cushion. The cushion & beaded fringing are fixed firmly onto the goblets …. but the lace & feathery embellishments are only pinned into place at the moment. The look may change slightly when I eventually finalise these trims.
So far the above design is my favourite, but I have more designs on the go – these will all be available for sale as soon as they’re finished.

From The Archives …
Welcome to Pink Saturday!
It’s exciting to get back into Pink Saturday. For those of you who pop in frequently, you will notice I have a New Look blog. This coincides nicely with my 200th blog post…. So stay tuned for a celebration to mark these two events!
While doing my ‘on again – off again’ clean up around the garage & work area I organised a small collection of teapots. Some will need to be recreated & some are more of the ‘collecting’ type. I don’t have any newer recreations to show you so I fossicked through my photo archives to find one old teapot which was given a makeover a few year back.
Of course this can’t be used as a teapot but it can be used as a decorative piece. The teapot is more pink in colour than is showing up in the photo. In the above photo it’s sitting elegantly on a recreated tray.
Old teapots make charming vessels for beautiful blooms …. preferably the real kind though – don’t know what I was thinking when I took this photo, lol.

PS: I would love your thoughts on my New Blog design – so if you have some feedback for me I loved to read it - Here .
My New Look Blog
Here It Is …. my new look blog!
It’s taken me a while to work out what to do with the blog design but thanks to Artisteer I’ve been able to play around with it. Some of it has been a bit of a headache but most of the time it was great fun. For someone like me the Artisteer theme generator has been fabulous to use.
I’ve gone through numerous colour themes, header designs & backgrounds. As this is a ‘first time’ blog design by me, choosing & settling on a design has been difficult. And this is the final result….. The background design is a montage of my past recreated treasures; The logo has had some texture added to it; and I’ve kept the posting sheet white.
I can now take a break from this design, just long enough to feel refreshed enough to check over everything again & do some tweaking where tweaking is necessary. Please feel free to let me know what you think. Your feedback is appreciated.
Were You There? The Handmade Show
Crafters on the South East side of Melbourne have long awaited for a show of their very own. This is not a market but a showing or exhibition by a collective group of creative people who beautifully & lovingly create their own wares to the highest quality and of original designs. Many of their works are One-Of-A-Kind and all have their own unique style.
The Handmade Show is here to showcase the talents that are blooming around Melbourne, especially on the South Eastern side of Melbourne. It’s a petite show of grand proportions by a friendly group who are passionate about their creative work.
Here is part of the creative ensemble -
Celeste from Little Waltz
Kerri from Vintage Sew and So
Celeste fromBowerbird inc
Jade from Holi Goddess
Elena from EP Designs
There will be a limited number of contributors at each show because that is how Celeste of Little Waltz, and creator of this new show, has intended it to be. A maximum of ten contributors will participate at each show.
We have enjoyed each others company and are enthusiastic in supporting & encouraging one another in our endeavours.
Our next showing is being organised for March. Stay tuned for all the details.
Think Beautiful!
Welcome to Pink Saturday!
If you like surrounding yourself with beautiful things then your walls are a great place to start - so, go on, hang some beautiful, decorative pieces on your walls.
These photos show a gorgeous, long panel print of antique crockery. Just right for that Vintage Chic look.

When the walls are taken care of you can whimsically toss a gorgeous pink lace throw over your lounge chair, couch or bed.

This pink throw is also trimmed with hand-dyed fringing, made to match the lace.

It wouldn’t be the same on Pink Saturday if we didn’t include a picture of some beautiful blooms. These pink lilies looked absolutely amazing - the photo does not do them justice. They stood magnificently in a glass vase at the foot of the alter in the chapel of Our Lady of the Angels.
Flowers like these do last a very long time & would cheer up your home and heart continuously…. not forgetting the lovely fragrance they send out.
… And now for our weekly challenge here are a couple of participants I’d like to introduce you to -
Mary from Across The Pond
Ann from Ann Fannie’s Green Acres
