When I found this urn shaped item in an opp shop I couldn’t work out what was its original use. It didn’t seem quite right as a planter – perhaps an ice bucket? Well whatever its original purpose it’s been recreated … but you decide what it can be used for.
I’ve decoupaged roses around its body giving the entire piece a shabby vintage finish.

Elena, the shape of the urn reminds me of a planter we had in our courtyard growing up. It was a bronze coloured planter, and the pots never sat evenly as the base was conical! the handles are identical.
Nice work, I love recreating things. I am restoring interesting wooden boxes at the moment and using as storage in my store – they look rustic, yet fabulous!

Yes, the urn shape of this pot is a little awkward as a planter. I wonder if it works better as an ice bucket?

Hi Jodie, It might be that when you begin looking for items and find something you tend keep finding things, and your eye then gets used to it and just ‘zooms in’ on items … I’m not sure, maybe it’s because I love fossicking – you just never know what might be hidden behind or under something
I don’t know how I’ve missed your Recreated Treasures category before but everything there is just lovely! Repurposing and recreating is my favorite kind of creating….thanks for sharing yours with us.
