Spring Has Sprung Outside … and Inside.

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

Spring has sprung in our neck of the woods.  Nature has coped with the drought and survived. We’re still not out of it yet and it will be years before everything gets back on track so it’s lovely to see the beautiful blooms springing out.  The Pink is on the green and it’s wonderful to see ….

This next photo shows one of our azalea bushes – they’re a gorgeous deep pink … there is something unusual in the background … can you see it? I’ll share about this next time :)

… they’re not fully out yet but I love it when the tree is full of magnolias. We have four trees – they look gorgeous in full bloom. I’m not sure what variety of magnolia they are -they have a pastel lavender-pink flower and are white inside.

… a close up of another gorgeous pink azaleas bush we have.

Now I can’t leave out something recreated in the past so this little bowl will be just right for a small arrangement of blooms.

… or how about a large, pink, floral throw with slinky, hand-dyed fringing to sling over your bed, lounge …. or your shoulders. It doubles up as a gorgeous wrap to wear out on those cool spring or summer evenings.

But don’t go just yet ….

Beverly has issued us all a challenge for Pink Saturday – to visit someone new amongst the particpants and then introduce them to your readers. So my blog for the week is –

Collected Treasures  - Jana has a lovely blog full of gorgeous treasures.

Posh Poodles – Primped, Preened & Pink!

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

Today I’m going for something a little different for the Pink. This is not something Ive created, recreated or own, but it is something that caught my eye online while browsing through Photobucket.

Yes, they are real, Some people do have them …….

Take a close look at this next photo, what else do you see? ….

Not that I would go off & colour my pooch pink, but this one (below) is my favourite – so cute ….

And for the finale – I couldn’t resist including this next pic. The look on the pooch’s face says it all, lol …..

……. !!!

But don’t go just yet ….

Beverly has issued us all a challenge for Pink Saturday – to visit someone new amongst the particpants and then introduce them to your readers. So my blog for the week is –

Coquettish Fleur

Patricia has been participating for a while but I’ve only just discovered her blog recently. Patricia is a mixed media artist and writer of stories, and poetry. She enjoys altered books, artist trading cards, collage on canvas. making dolls, sketching and reading. I found this Pink Solves Everything button on her blog which I thought was rather cute … it also got me searching through lots of pink images on Photobucket which lead to my Pink Poodle post today. Thank you Patricia.

Do drop by her blog and say ‘Hi’

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Pink Saturday and the interesting posh, pink poodles - I’ve been enjoying all your Pink Saturday posts. Let me know that you’ve dropped by and I’ll return the visit.

Afternoon Tea !

Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

If a delightful afternoon tea is not on your To Do list then you must add it immediately. Wouldn’t it be so nice if all Pink Saturday participants could enjoy a refreshing and delicious afternoon tea together?  We could all bring something to the party.

I’ll start with a vintage style, rose tea set. This teapot, creamer & sugar set will do nicely for our cyber tea.

A pretty pink, tiered cake stand will hold our cupcakes and slices…… who is bringing the cupcakes?

….And a pink tray for sandwiches? Although, I’d prefer to serve delicious chocolates instead.  Notice something sparkling under the tray? They are the pink beads and sequins of a table runner.

We’ll also need lovely pink dessert plates for our scrumptious fills. However, if you prefer smaller portions then the pretty cake plate will also match your tea cup.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Pink Saturday and the cyber afternoon tea - I’ve been enjoying all your Pink Satuday posts. Let me know that you’ve dropped by and I’ll return the visit.

Pink Pretties & Tassels

Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

Pretty trims and fanciful whimsies soften your surrounds and add a delightful little spark to any spot needing brightening up. Tassels are purely decorative and are something I enjoy creating. This tassel (below) is a soft body tassel made with hand dyed fringing, long beaded fringing and a velvet flower trim.

Tassels are quite simple to make. these four tassels were made to complement a table topper. They’re not only decorative but act a a weight for each corner of the tablecloth.

A gorgeous shimmering sheer needed equally impressive tassels to match. They’re hand dyed and are larger than most tassels for tablecloths but they are removeable and can be used elsewhere.

I love beaded fringing – it sets the creative mind buzzing. Not much needed here to create this tassel.

…. can’t stop with tassels – just had to trim this compote, after painting it, with the gorgeous beaded fringing to turn it into a recreated treasure.

…. a tiny, cute tassel adds more prettiness to the fluffy organza gift bag.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Pink Saturday – I’ve been enjoying all your Pink Satuday posts. Let me know that you’ve dropped by and I’ll return the visit.

Pink Mix Of New & Recreated Treasures

 Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

On show for Pink Saturday is a mix of recreated treasures. This photo was taken at one of the Christmas Exhibition & Sale sales I would stage each year. This is the type of work I love to do. Everything in this photo was recreated or made by EP Designs … that’s me.

The decorative tabelcloths, throws, and tablerunners were designed and trimmed by me but sewn by my mum …. I can design, paint and create but I can’t sew – mum is a perfectionist and sews beautifully.

If you look closely at the above photo you will also find tassels (including beaded tassels), rose coasters, an elegant pin cushion, a couple of items from last week’s Pink Saturday, and a small velvet covered book….. can you find them?

Most of the items in the first photo are sold – including the above tray. It feels great knowing that people out there are enjoying my work and using them to ‘pretty up’ or brighten a little corner of their home.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Pink Saturday – I look forward to reading yours.

Recreated Treasures

 Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

This week’s pink I’m sharing is a bit of a mix. This first photo shows a display of some of my recreated decor items. They’re not all pink but they go nicely together. The sheer backdrop is actually a tabletopper. I simply added a plum pink, leaf & swirl edging design, highlighted with dots of gold. The pink compote/basket has a tassel sitting inside - it’s a beaded one with pink hand dyed fringe on the outer.

A closer look of the pink compote/basket can be seen in the next two photos.

This was once a rather sad looking piece of silverware … minus the most of the silver. Now there’s not a bit of silver in sight – only pink, pale green, and gold highlights lightly brushed around the edge and handle.

The next item was also an old piece of silverware in desperate need of a makeover. The roses you can see on the plate of the compote have been decoupaged onto a motley background of pink, green and pale yellow.

I rather like the idea of filling the compote with delicious chocolates……. then eating them all with the excuse that you need to see the roses ;)

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s pink!

Sheer Elegance

 Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

Many of the decorative tablecloths designed in the early days of EP Designs were definitely One-Of-A-Kind. I couldn’t resist some of these gorgeous sheers and satins. I wasn’t content with using the usual soft furnishing fabrics (although there were many gorgeous design there too) and my eye strayed onto elegant, soft materials found in the dress fabric department.

These decorative tablecloths worked well as sumptuous throws, adding that touch of elegance anywhere in the home. The above photo shows a tablecloth/throw and a matching tablerunner …… or shawl.  One of my pleasures was in designing these items for multi use – why have them just for the table, or draped over lounges or mirrors when you could also wear them!

~

Tassels were a feature on nearly all of my designs. Each set hand made to match or complement the fabric.

~

Ok, this is more magenta than pink but the tassels are pink and I think it fits nicely into Pink Saturday.

~

What do you think of this old chair? It was given to me by a friend who found it under her house whilst renovating. I was going to try and ‘fix’ it or recreate it but it was too far gone. However, I did make good use of it as a prop for these photographic sessions.

I just love the contrast between the old, rickety chair and the delicate, smooth flowing fabrics……

Pretty Pink Dishes

 Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

Combine a few simple items and create something Pretty enough to give as a gift. A fluffy pink organza gift bag with three soaps – lavender, tropical frangipani and rose – sitting pretty on small pink bowl.

An old tarnished bowl has been given a new look – a few coats of pink paint with gold highlighting the embossed edge.

…. another pink bowl has been given the same treatment.

… and so has this small dish.

This little dish can be used as a bottle coaster. I don’t know if that was it’s original purpose but it does look so nice on a table setting.

I find a lot of these old silver or steel dishes at op shops for such small costs. It’s simple to  recreate them and give them a new look. They make a unique gift item or a gorgeous little decor piece for your own dresser, mantle or dining table. So, if you have any metal pieces you’re about to throw out think about giving them a facelift. Its better than buying something new because it will be a one-of-a-kind – no one else can boast of having the same piece.

If you do recreate something, post a pic and let me know – I’d love to see your handy work.

Teapot & Tureen – Classic, Ornate and Pink.

Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

Take a look at these. The teapot and tureen are so richly ornate they make me feel I’m in a grand palace in France.

Makes you want to dress up for a cuppa…. just gorgeous!

Tureen, urn or bowl, it’s not something I would keep in hiding. It needs it’s own display spot, or maybe stand them both together.

Pretty things need to be seen, don’t you think?

Rose Prints for Pink Saturday

 Welcome to Pink  Saturday!

Today I’ll share with you seveal gorgeous rose prints. We all love roses so why not have them on your walls as well as in your vases. It’s not always possible to buy an original artwork so canvas prints are an affordable way to go. This canvas print of a sinlge pink rose is so soft and pretty.

Shabby pink roses – the print is on a long, textured panel.

More shabby roses – I love the mix of pink and yellow roses.

The photo below shows are smaller panel print with a French flavour.

… it’s only a small panel compared to the longer ones but I think it’s a favourite for me.

So, how many roses could you arrange on a wall? I guess it can be as many as you’d like. I haven’t placed these on any walls as these are part of the prints I have for sale- but when our renovations are complete I’m hoping to have a nice ‘arrangement’ on one wall, with a collection of favourite roses.

Candles And Bows For Pink Saturday

Welcome to another Pink Saturday!

Do you have a little corner in your home where you can create little displays? My ‘little corner’ keeps changing position but wherever it goes it gets a new display. I guess it’s almost like setting up vases of flowers and changing them as needed. I’m not very good with real flowers inside the house but I like creating little displays. This came about because I would need to photograph various items which were up for sale. I would leave the corner table set up for a short while before packing everything back into their boxes. Now I use any gifts that have been given or whatever I have, or haven’t used for some time. So ……….

Take some pink candles with pink bows…..

Find a set of pink glass candleholders……. add the pink candles…

… add a few more pretties and experiment with a couple of settings.

Pink Glass Candleholders – these were on my EP Designs product list.

Pink Candles – I decorated candles mainly with Christmas themes but I couldn’t resist adding pink to my design range.

Rose Painting – my very first practice at painting roses at an all day class.

Potpourri Bowl – one of my recreated items.

Fluffy Keepsake Boxes for Pink Saturday

Welcome to another Pink Saturday!

Today’s little collection includes a few fluffy and cute keepsake boxes - One of my creative experiments from my ‘hobby business’ days. The base structure is a round cardboard box with lid. The photos don’t show their actual size but the first two designs are the smaller of the set I used (diam. approx 18 cm, or 7″) and the third design is the largest (approx 25cm, or 10″).

Very Pink on the outside and royal blue inside.

Very elegant and regal looking on the outside with purple to match that royal feel.

Just fluffy fun outside and sunny on the inside.

There were other designs using stronger, deeper colours of vintage red and gold. Of course, most of them have either been given away as gifts or sold, except the purple lidded one above and a gold lidded one (not pictured).

I wish I had a before photo to show you the plain brown cardboard boxes. It’s amazing what a combination of a little paint, crushed panne, feathers and assorted braids can do.
